I think I need to clarify my comment from earlier... I was tired, and it makes little sense.
So, by "slightly off to the side" I meant, "that's what makes it an interesting composition."
And: "the shadows are interesting" means something along the lines of, "The way the shadows fall gives it depth and more interest."
And finally, its interesting to see a painting from you because previously we've only seen drawings and 3-d renderings. The paintings fall somewhere in between, where drawings we can see your analytical and precise hand while 3-d animations we only see a complete, polished and finished product. This is complete, but we still see your hand and what your eye was seeing.

The composition is wonderful, slightly off to the side, but still commanding attention. Then the little cross thing too.
